It’s the 20th anniversary of Broadway’s funny, smart and sexy Victor/ Victoria and the Ogunquit Playhouse is celebrating by mounting a full-scale glamorous production of the musical comedy, complete with the original Broadway and touring sets designed by Robin Wagner and costumes by Willa Kim. It’s Paris 1934 in all its glitzy glory, and Victoria, played by Broadway’s Lisa Brescia, is a down-on-her-luck nightclub singer. Her luck changes when she meets the flamboyant and big-hearted Toddy, played by Broadway veteran George Dvorsky, who hatches a plan to help her masquerade as female impersonator “Victor.” Hilarity and confusion soon follow when “Victor” becomes an overnight sensation and attracts the attention of a macho Chicago gangster, King Marchan, played by Darren Ritchie – much to the dismay of his ditsy girlfriend Norma Cassidy, played by Robyn Hurder.

DARREN RITCHIE (King Marchan) just came from a critically acclaimed show Freedom's Song, at Washington DC Fords Theatre. Last summer: the Las Vegas premiere of Re-Animator the Musical after a sold out run in Los Angeles. He also currently travels internationally with The Broadway Rox concert series. Before that, he received the Outstanding Performance by an Actor Award at the 10th anniversary NYMF festival for his work in Standby the Musical. Broadway: originated the role of the White Knight/Jack in Wildhorn's Wonderland: Alice's New Musical Adventure, also originating the role of Jonathan Harker on Broadway in Dracula, the Musical. BLAKE EDWARDS (Book) has been an international favorite since the 1961 release of his enchanting Breakfast at Tiffany’s starring the late Audrey Hepburn. The 49 films Mr. Edwards has directed, many of which he wrote and produced, have grossed more than one and a half billion dollars at the box office. His comedies, such as the Pink Panther films, Micki & Maude, Victor/Victoria, The Great Race, Blind Date, 10, and Switch are just some of the many classics the distinguished filmmaker has brought to the screen. His work includes such memorable dramas as Days of Wine and Roses and Experiment in Terror, as well as the poignant comedy drama That’s Life and the black comedy S.O.B. Mr. Edwards appeared in more than two dozen films before deciding that he was not an actor. He also worked as a writer and producer in films and created one popular radio series, “Richard Diamond: Private Detective”. In 1956, he wrote and directed “Mr. Cory”, starring Tony Curtis, which was by his own admission his “first film of any consequence.” Mr. Edwards moved into television in 1958 with the popular series “Peter Gunn” and “Mr. Lucky”. These series brought about the remarkable Blake Edwards/Henry Mancini collaboration, which produced the famous Pink Panther theme. Blake Edwards was also a highly accomplished painter and sculptor. He was a strong supporter of individual and humanitarian actions. Together with his wife, Julie Andrews, he was one of the driving forces behind the mercy flights organized worldwide by Operation USA. He was also on the board of The Herditary Disease Foundation.

HENRY MANCINI (Music) was an American composer, conductor and arranger, who is best remembered for his film and television scores. He won four Academy Awards, a Golden Globe, and twenty Grammy Awards, plus a posthumous Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995. His best known works include the jazz-idiom theme to The Pink Panther film series ("The Pink Panther Theme") and the theme to the "Peter Gunn" television series. The Peter Gunn theme won the first Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Mancini also had a long collaboration on film scores with the film director Blake Edwards.

LESLIE BRICUSSE (Lyrics) writer-composer-lyricist, has been nominated for ten Oscars, nine Grammys, and four Tonys, and has won two Oscars, a Grammy, and eight Ivor Novello Awards, the premiere British Music Awards. In 1989, he received the Kennedy Award for consistent excellence in British songwriting, bestowed by the British Academy of Songwriters. He was also inducted into the American Songwriter’s Hall of Fame, making him the fourth Englishman to be so honored. FRANK WILDHORN (Additional Music) Multi-Grammy, Tony, and Emmy Award nominated composer/producer Frank Wildhorn's work spans the worlds of popular, theatrical, and classical music. In 1999, Frank became the first American composer in 22 years to have three shows running simultaneously on Broadway: Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Civil War (Tony Award nominated for Best Score). He recently designed the revivals of A Chorus Line and Dreamgirls, which are now on tour around the world. His work has included productions for opera, film, dance and rock and roll, including the New York City Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera, the Swedish Royal Opera, Hamburg State Opera, Vienna State Opera, and the Royal Opera at Covent Garden. He is the recipient of 3 Tony Awards for On The Twentieth Century, City of Angels and The Producers and has been nominated for 7 others. His other honors include 6 Drama Desk Awards, multiple Outer Critics Circle Awards, Canada’s Dora Award, the Maharam Award, the Lumen Award for the Rolling Stones’ Tour of the Americas and numerous others. Mr. Wagner is a trustee of the Joseph Papp Public Theater and has been inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame.

WILLA KIM (Costume Designer) was born in Los Angeles, California and has designed costumes for many Broadway shows, including: Dancin’, Grease, and Song and Dance. She won the Tony Award for her costume designs for The Will Rogers Follies and Sophisticated Ladies. She has designed costumes for the American Ballet Theatre as well as other dance companies, including more than 50 works for Eliot Feld. Furthermore, in 2007 Ms. Kim was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame, making her one of only a handful of costume designers so honored.

RICHARD LATTA (Lighting Designer) created the lighting for last season's The Addams Family, Mary Poppins (Ogunquit and Music Hall Portsmouth), Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story (Music Hall Portsmouth) and Grease. Recent work includes: El Posada Nunca Se Termina (Projections, Chicago Lyric Opera), Twas the Night before Christmas, The 39 Steps, Hasbro Toy Fair 2015 and Newark Arts Ballet 2015. Previous work includes: Cabaret (Engeman Theatre, Maltz Jupiter, Ogunquit) projection research for the opera Moby Dick (Houston, SF, Sydney, Kennedy Center), Thurgood, The People In The Picture (Broadway), Fiddler on the Roof (Engeman, Ogunquit) Legally Blonde (Ogunquit). He proudly salutes all his Ogunquit friends who helped make the Playhouse what it is today.

KEVIN HEARD (Sound Designer) is delighted to return to Ogunquit for his third show after previously designing The Addams Family and Mary Poppins (at The Music Hall). Kevin’s other design credits include: Broadway: The Country House (Associate), All The Way (Associate). Off-Broadway: For The Last Time, Long Story Short, The Underclassman, Jasper in Deadland (Associate), Clinton The Musical (Associate). BRITT E. GRIFFITH (Wig and Makeup Designer) is thrilled to return to the Ogunquit family for a second season. She has been working professionally in theater/film for the last 13 years, and spent the past winter working for The Cincinnati Arts Association at the Aaronoff Center. Britt has been on the International Tour of The Addams Family, and the National Tours of 39 Steps, Cabaret, and Oz: The Musical. Favorite regional design credits include: Billy Elliot, Mary Poppins, The Witches of Eastwick, Beauty and the Beast, and The Drowsy Chaperone. ANTHONY C. DANIEL (Associate Director) is thrilled to be back at the Playhouse this summer after serving as Associate Director to Shaun Kerrison on last year's productions of Mary Poppins and Witches of Eastwick. Anthony is on staff at the Growing Studio in NYC as a Director and Coach for the Showcase Series. MICHAEL USELMANN (Associate Music Director) is so excited to spend his summer at Ogunquit! Favorite credits include: Big Fish, Young Frankenstein (Timber Lake Playhouse), Hello Dolly! Tarzan (regional premier), Shrek, Legally Blonde, Chicago, Carousel (Wagon Wheel Theatre), and Grey Gardens (Lawrence University). Michael received a degree in music theory/composition from Lawrence University and is currently pursuing his masters in musical theatre writing at NYU’s Tisch school of the arts. BRIAN J. SWASEY (Associate Producer) Brian is originally from South Portland, Maine and is a graduate of The University of New Hampshire. After moving to NYC in 1995 and focusing on pursuing a career as an actor, he changed focus and became the Founding Artistic Director of The Astoria Performing Arts Center, followed by the Associate Producer position at Queens Theatre in the Park in Flushing, NY. There he was involved in producing the 20th Anniversary Revival of Closer Than Ever starring Sally Mayes and Lynne Winterstellar. NYC developmental projects have included: the rock musical The 12, being produced at The Denver Center in the Spring of 2015, and a new holiday musical entitled Tim and Scrooge which is slated to play Westchester Broadway Theatre for Christmas of 2015. Also, a Director/Choreographer, Brian has had the pleasure of directing such shows as Pump Boys and Dinettes, Hairspray, Chicago, A New Brain, and Altar Boyz. He was the Assistant Director for the NYC Revival of Die, Mommie, Die! starring Charles Busch. At The Playhouse, Brian directed the TYA productions of The Berenstain Bears, and The Cat In The Hat. In addition, Brian has been involved with booking cabaret entertainment at The Triad in NYC, as well as bringing such artists as Christina Bianco and Bruce Vilanch to Maine Street in Ogunquit, ME.

TIMOTHEY SULLIVAN (Production Manager) 2015 marks Tim’s second season with the Playhouse. Prior to joining the OPH team, he worked for several years as a producer for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, producing Broadway staples such as Broadway Backwards and Broadway Bares. Previous to his time at BC/EFA, Tim was the Production Director for the Tony Award winning Intiman Theatre in Seattle. He has also served as Production Manager for the Brown University/Trinity Rep MFA Program as well as the Drama Desk award winning Mint Theater. He has worked on production teams for several Broadway shows & national tours, as well as the American Repertory Theatre, Trinity Rep, The Public, Lucille Lortel and New World Stages. He is also the Associate Director & Production Stage Manager for Charles Busch’s annual off-Broadway production of Times Square Angel. As an Educator, Tim has taught at Bridgewater State University, Brown University and Harvard University’s Institute for Advanced Theatre Training; as well as teaching courses and seminars at various high schools and colleges throughout the United States.

GEOF DOLAN (Technical Director) is returning for his 9th season as the Playhouse's Technical Director and Scenic Coordinator. Immediately prior to Ogunquit he served as Technical Director for Worcester Foothills Theatre. He has done supplemental design work for several shows and received 2014 BroadwayWorld Award for Best Scenic Design in Maine for his work on Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Robert Kovach original design.) He is also the technical supervisor for the Children's Theatre program. Geof began his technical career working backstage for both of his parents who are theatre directors and began his professional career at Sierra Repertory Theatre in California. For 5 years he split his seasons between Maine and Florida, working the same technical areas for the Orlando Shakespeare, but now stays with the theater year round. His wife, Cheryl (Scenic Charge Artist at the Playhouse for 8 seasons), has designed award-winning parade floats and designs many of the Children’s Theater Shows. His "born-in-a trunk" 14 yr. old daughter Ashlynn is an aspiring actress, musician and artist who can definitely call the Playhouse her second home.

MOLLY WALZ (Costume Shop Supervisor/Costume Coordinator) is a native of Dayton, OH, and has worked as a costume manager, technician, and designer all over the country. Most recently she was the costume shop manager at Orlando Repertory Theatre and a costume and wig designer for the Orlando Shakespeare Theatre, before going on tour with In the Mood as a wardrobe supervisor. Other past companies include: the Garden Theater, College Light Opera Company, and Allenberry Playhouse, among others. Molly holds a degree from Kent State University in costume design and technology with a minor in history. BRADFORD T. KENNEY (Executive Artistic Director) is a New England based artistic director, producer, stage and film director and artist. Since joining the Ogunquit Playhouse in 2005, the Playhouse has doubled its audience growing from a single season summer stock theatre into one of the Northeast’s pre-eminent regional theatres with a three season performance schedule. During his stewardship, the Playhouse has garnered a number of awards and honors including the Moss Hart Award, Regional Theatre Award for Outstanding Achievement in the American Theatre from the New England Theatre Conference, multiple IRNE award nominations and a number of BroadwayWorld awards including Best Musical and others. Mr. Kenney is also noted for his work at Carnegie Hall including directing the holiday special The Christmas Rose starring Jane Seymour and producing An American Christmas Carol with Tim Janis also at Carnegie Hall. In New England, Mr. Kenney has been proud to be associated with a number of different theatre companies. Ogunquit highlights include Damn Yankees starring Carson Kressley, Sunset Blvd starring Stefanie Powers, Charles Shaughnessy and Rachel York in Monty Python’s Spamalot, Jefferson Mays in My Fair Lady, Lorenzo Lamas in The King and I, Rue McClanahan in Crazy for You, Sally Struthers in Hello, Dolly! and Andrea McArdle in Cabaret. He was also formerly the Artistic Director of the Foothills Theatre and Wachusett Theatre Companies in Massachusetts. He is a fourth generation plein air landscape artist, having studied with Beth Ellis, Rhode Island School of Design, Heartwood College of Art, and Maine College of Art. His artwork is represented by the Sea Bell Gallery, Shore Road, Ogunquit, Maine.

TAMS-WITMARK MUSIC LIBRARY, INC. has been licensing musical shows since 1925. Its catalog contains many of the greatest musicals in the history of the Broadway stage including seventeen Tony Award winners for Best Musical. Tams-Witmark began licensing shows written by the legendry composers/lyricists of the first part of the 20th century including Cole Porter, George and Ira Gershwin, and Jerome Kern. By the 1950s and 1960s, Tams-Witmark acquired rights to many of the most popular musicals of that era including My Fair Lady, Hello, Dolly!, and Oliver!. Tams-Witmark also acquired rights to Bye Bye Birdie, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown and created the stage version of the legendary MGM motion picture of The Wizard of Oz. All of these shows remain among the most widely produced musicals. The Ogunquit Playhouse Glamorous Production of Victor/Victoria Hits the Stage June 24

It’s the 20th anniversary of Broadway’s tender and funny, smart and sexy Victor/ Victoria and the Ogunquit Playhouse is celebrating by mounting a full-scale glamorous production of the musical comedy June 24 to July 18, complete with the original Broadway and touring sets designed by Robin Wagner and costumes by Willa Kim. Written by acclaimed film director Blake Edwards (Breakfast at Tiffany’s, The Pink Panther) and based on his hit film that starred Julie Andrews, Robert Preston and James Garner, this truly classic musical features an electrifying and moving score by Henry Mancini, lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and additional musical material by Frank Wildhorn that includes the exciting “Le Jazz Hot,” the touching "Almost A Love Song," and the hilarious "Chicago, Illinois." Don’t miss the musical comedy that BroadwayWorld exclaims “has all the panache and sizzle of Chicago, the colorful character line up of Guys and Dolls, and the farcical comedy of Noises Off.” This show has it all!

Victor/Victoria is a musical comedy set in 1934 Paris in all its glitzy glory, and tells the story of Victoria, played by Broadway’s Lisa Brescia, a down-on-her-luck nightclub singer in search of a job. Her luck changes when she meets the flamboyant and big-hearted Toddy, played by Broadway veteran George Dvorsky, who hatches a plan to help her masquerade as female impersonator “Victor.” Hilarity and confusion soon follow when “Victor” becomes an overnight sensation in the night clubs of Paris and attracts the attention of a macho Chicago gangster, King Marchan, played by Darren Ritchie – much to the dismay of his ditsy girlfriend Norma Cassidy, played by Robyn Hurder.

Lisa Brescia makes her Ogunquit Playhouse debut in the starring role as Victoria Grant. She has appeared on Broadway in many productions including Mamma Mia! as Donna Sheridan, Wicked as Elphaba, Twyla Tharp’s The Times They Are A-Changin’ as Cleo, Aida as Amneris, and The Woman in White as Marion Halcolmbe, as well as many off-Broadway and regional productions.

George Dvorsky, who last graced the Ogunquit Playhouse stage as Billy Flynn in Chicago (2010), is cast in the role of Carroll Todd. He has appeared on Broadway in The Scarlet Pimpernel, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (revival), the Tony Award–winning Passion, Marilyn: An American Fable and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, as well as in many off-Broadway productions, and was featured on PBS’ Emmy-winning Passion: Live at Lincoln Center starring Patti LuPone. He recently starred as El Gallo in New York's longest running musical The Fantasticks. Mr. Dvorsky also starred as Baron Bomburst/Lord Scrumptious in the National Tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and as Billy Crocker opposite Chita Rivera in Anything Goes at the Paper Mill Playhouse. His extensive regional credits include appearances at Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS) in Houston; North Shore Music Theatre in Beverly, MA; The Olney Theatre Center, Olney, MD; and the Cape Playhouse in Dennis, MA. At the Ogunquit Playhouse he starred in the productions of 1776, My One and Only, Damn Yankees, Brigadoon, and Carousel.

Darren Ritchie joins the cast as King Marchan, the homophobic gangster who falls in love in “Victor.” Mr. Ritchie most recently appeared in the critically acclaimed Freedom's Song at Ford’s Theatre in Washington D.C. He received the Outstanding Performance by an Actor Award at the 10th anniversary New York Music Festival for his work in Standby the Musical. On Broadway he originated the role of the White Knight/Jack in Wildhorn's Wonderland: Alice's New Musical Adventure, as well as the role of Jonathan Harker in the Broadway production of Dracula, the Musical. His other Broadway performances include Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Little Shop of Horrors, Bells Are Ringing, and Les Miserables.

Robyn Hurder is cast as beautiful, bubble-brained Norma, the jealous girlfriend of gangster King Marchan. She is returning to her native state of Maine to make her Ogunquit Playhouse debut. On Broadway she originated the roles of Jeannie Muldoon in Nice Work If You Can Get It, Marty in the most recent revival of Grease, and Violet in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Her other Broadway credits include Chicago and The Wedding Singer. She has also appeared in many Off Broadway and New York theatres including Paint Your Wagon at City Center's Encores!, Play It Cool at Theatre Row and as one of The Broadway Dolls in Tour De Fierce (NYMF). Her First National Tour credits include A Chorus Line as Cassie, Spamalot as Lady of the Lake, and Starlight Express as Pearl.

Also joining the cast are Joe Joyce as Henri Labisse who recently appeared on Broadway in the Tony Award nominated musical Swinging On A Star and National Tours of 42ND Street, The Mystery of Edwin Drood and La Cage Aux Folles; Jacob Smith who is making his Ogunquit debut as Squash and recently appeared in the National Tours of Spamalot and Rock of Ages; and Robert Marcus who is also making his Ogunquit debut is cast as Andre Cassell and recently appeared in the National Tour of Jekyll & Hyde.

Directing the Ogunquit production is Matt Lenz, who received the 2015 Drama Desk nomination for Pageant: The Musical. On Broadway he has worked as the Associate Director on original productions of Hairspray, Catch Me If You Can, The Velocity of Autumn and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast as Resident Director. He has directed many musicals at regional theatres throughout the U. S. as well as the National Tours of Hairspray, Catch Me If You Can and A Christmas Story: The Musical. Internationally Mr. Lenz has directed Hairspray in Johannesburg, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Toronto, and Cologne, Germany.

Darren Lee joins the creative team for Victor/Victoria as Choreographer. On Broadway Mr. Lee worked as the Associate Choreographer for Pacific Overtures. He has choreographed for many regional theatres across the country including Olney Theatre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, St. Louis MUNY, Paper Mill Playhouse, Music Theatre of Wichita, La Jolla Playhouse, and North Shore Music Theatre.

Jeffrey Campos returns to the Ogunquit Playhouse as Musical Director. His National Tour credits include Jekyll & Hyde, A Chorus Line, The Wizard of Oz, Oklahoma, Annie, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. He has worked at the Ogunquit Playhouse as both Musical Director and Assistant Musical Director for the productions of The Witches of Eastwick, Grease, Thoroughly Modern Mille, Joseph…Dreamcoat, 9 to 5 the Musical, Damn Yankees, South Pacific, Legally Blonde, Summer of Love, and Sunset Boulevard, as well as many other regional theatres throughout the U.S.

The Ogunquit Playhouse will produce four more Broadway musicals in 2015. The delightful Nice Work If You Can Get It hits the stage July 22 to August 15 with Ogunquit’s favorite comic actress Sally Struthers as the town temperance enforcer set against a gang of bootleggers. The Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Million Dollar Quartet is on stage August 19 to September 19. Saturday Night Fever, with a newly revised book and musical arrangements, comes to life on stage from September 23 to October 25. The Irving Berlin classic White Christmas will be presented just in time for the holidays, December 9 to 20 at the Music Hall in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
